E-book Cookbooks - What a Concept!

Collecting cookbooks is a passion of mine. I love any kind of cookbook, baking, microwave, crock pot, fondue, appetizers, gourmet, organic, exotic, French, German, bread, skillet, BBQ, diet and the list keeps going! I haven't even had a chance to try some of the recipes in a lot of them yet. I have been collecting cookbooks for many years now, most I have purchased but some have been given to me by friends and some have been handed down to me from my mom, mother-in-law and my grandmothers. Those that were handed down are my most cherished. You can never have enough, there is always something new and different that becomes available.

One downside to collecting and owning so many cookbooks is where to put my ever growing collection. I have two large bookcases full and my husband is insisting we have no more room for anymore bookcases. Another issue is finding the particular cookbook I'm looking for, I categorize them as best I can but sometimes that requires reorganizing whole shelves on both bookcases. Like most people I would much rather spend my time shopping for cookbooks and using them than to be organizing the ones I have. Enter the wonderful, time saving, space saving world of technology! Fortunately for my overburdened bookshelves

I have recently ventured into the world of e-book cookbooks. What a concept! I have discovered there are a few advantages to e-book cookbooks (besides not having to talk my husband into buying more bookcases!). Convenience is the most obvious, of course. Who doesn't love online shopping, no large crowds of people; no waiting in long lines, no parking issues and you can shop 24/7 from the convenience of your own home. After you make your purchase you download your book on to your computer and you can use it right away, no waiting for UPS or the Post Office to deliver.

Space saving is a definite upside! CD's take up a lot less space on the shelf than big books do and you can put quite a few e-books on the CD. You can also group the books on the CD, one CD for appetizers, one for bread recipes, one for cakes, the possibilities are endless.

Let's not forget counter space. Instead of having books scattered around the counter while you're cooking or baking with e-books you can print out just the recipe you will be working with. No more ruining a perfectly good book. If you're like me sometimes things get spilled or splattered and there is nothing more frustrating than having a stain or a blob on your favorite recipe. Now if that happens I can just throw out the paper and print a new one next time I need to use it, splatter free!

So next time you're shopping for a new or different cookbook give an e-book a try - What a concept!
